This policy explains what the Speakeasy app and the speakeasy.studio.gold website collect, why, and who receives it. "We" means the team that makes Speakeasy.

Information We Collect

Account and Device

• A random device identifier that the app creates, so the service can recognise your device without an account.
• Your name and email address, if you sign in with Apple or Google. Apple may give us a private relay address instead of your email.
• A push notification token, if you allow notifications.

Content You Submit

• The links you add, the article text we extract from them, and the audio we generate.
• The RSS feeds you subscribe to.
• Feedback you send from the app.

Your library is saved in your own iCloud Drive. Our server keeps generated audio for a limited time so your devices can download it, and keeps a copy for each share link you create.

Purchases

• Your subscription status and purchase history. Apple processes every payment. We never receive your card details.

Usage, Diagnostics and Advertising Data

• How you use the app, such as screens viewed, articles played and purchases started.
• Your IP address and your device's identifier for vendors (IDFV).
• Apple's Apple Ads attribution token. The app requests it on each launch, and Apple uses it to tell us whether an Apple Ads advertisement led to the install.
• On iPhone: an anonymous app identifier from Meta's SDK, together with app installs, app opens and purchases. The app never asks for permission to track you, so it receives no advertising identifier (IDFA).
• On our website: page visits, clicks and session recordings (with form inputs masked) through PostHog. If you reject cookies, PostHog still counts visits without cookies. The Meta Pixel loads only after you accept cookies in the banner.

How We Use Your Information

• To convert articles into audio and deliver them to your devices.
• To manage your subscription and the free weekly article limit.
• To send notifications you asked for, such as when audio is ready.
• To answer feedback and support requests.
• To understand which features people use, and to fix problems.
• To measure which advertisements bring people to Speakeasy.

Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers below, and only for the purpose listed.

Meta can use the data it receives under its own privacy policy, including to measure and deliver ads. You can control how Meta uses your activity at facebook.com/adpreferences.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it.

Data Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS) for all traffic between the app and our servers. Access to our servers and database is limited to our team.

Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your account data while your account exists. You can delete your account and its data in the app under Settings → Delete account. After deletion we keep a record of the device identifiers the account used, marked as retired. Usage records in PostHog are not deleted with the account. To have them removed, contact us. Data held in your iCloud Drive stays under your control. Purchase records that Apple and RevenueCat keep follow their own retention rules.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access your personal information
• Correct inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your information
• Object to or limit processing of your information
• Receive your information in a portable format

Children

Speakeasy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

We may update this policy. We will post the new version on this page and change the "Last updated" date.
